Multimedia Project

I love poetry.  In this multimedia project my children recorded poems that they had written themselves and I combined it with their pictures using Yodio.  It is very exciting and motivating for them to have their own original work "published" in this way.  We also were able to send these Yodios to their very proud grandparents!  I can imagine doing a similar project with elementary students to culminate a unit on poetry.  Because poetry is, among other things, about the sound and rhythm of the language, podcasting is an ideal way to present it.  I can also imagine having elementary students memorize and "perform" a poem to make a podcast.  In my college-level German language classes I also like to have students perform a piece of poetry for the class, by memorizing and reciting a German poem from a pre-selected list of poems.  I think it would be great to have them also create a podcast as a final project and keepsake from the course.

Here are Alexander and Isabelle's poems:

  1. Kristen --- precious recordings. I'd love to share share this Post with other parents/educators. Wonderful use a technology (cell phone) in the classroom that the majority of kids already have (and whose parents 100% approved).

  2. Hello Professor Jahn,

Please feel free to share these recordings with other educators and parents. We are also planning on making Yodio's of all the grandchildren (8!) reading poetry, singing original songs, playing Christmas carols on the piano, trumpet and sax for their grandparents as a Christmas gift.
